Technology may sound like a modern and futuristic term, but it has existed as long as innovation has existed. A cave man using a stone to grind up wheat is just as much an application of technology as Tesla’s implementation of self driving cars. The invention and utilization of the wheel is as technological as the invention of the smartphone. Every type of innovation and invention can be traced back to a point in time where someone saw a way to apply their knowledge to something. According to Webster’s Dictionary, the definition of technology is the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area. For the longest time I always thought of technology as strictly being associated with electronics. That’s before I actually†¦show more content†¦While technology can play a beneficial role in the way it affects our society, there are also some aspects of innovation that have a negative effect on our well being. Innovator and inventor, Alfred Nobel was a swedish man who specialized in construction. You may know him by his last name which is used for one of the most prestigious awards on our planet. Most people don’t know why this man decide to create this peace prize, but the answer to that is how he used technology. Nobel found out that by mixing two certain chemicals together he could create, you guessed it, dynomite. This was a great thing for Nobel as his company was essentially based on construction and dynamite really helped out when things needed to be blown up. The only problem with this was it was quickly used as a weapon and took many lives, especially in that time era. So Nobel decided to create the peace prize to balance out the damage he inflicted on our society. Some people may argue whether or not this is a good example of ‘technology gone bad’, but it just goes to show that innovation and advancements could have negative side effects. Nuclear weaponry is another prime example of â€Å"dangerous† technology.
